Samsung Plans a Foldable Tablet, More Powerful Flip in 2025

by | Oct 24, 2024 | Galaxy Z, News

2025 could be an exciting year for Samsung foldable fans. Recent rumors suggest the company has five folding devices in the pipeline for the next year. Alongside the two regular products, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, it is allegedly working on a “special” Flip and a tri-fold smartphone. The Korean firm also plans a foldable tablet.

Samsung could expand into several new foldable categories in 2025

After introducing the book-style Galaxy Fold in 2019, Samsung expanded to the clamshell form factor with the Flip lineup in 2020. Since then, it has released one Fold and one Flip model every year, with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 debuting in July. The firm recently followed up with the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, though it’s only coming to South Korea and China.

It appears Samsung plans to make more foldables next year. The Korean media recently reported that the company is working on a tri-fold smartphone similar to Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate. It is also said to be mulling a second Flip phone, potentially a more powerful variant — perhaps a Special Edition model (Samsung recently confirmed it doesn’t plan to make affordable foldables).

On top of this, the Korean conglomerate is rumored to introduce a foldable tablet next year. Details are scarce, but Samsung has demoed several folding tablet concepts and prototypes over the years. It may be working on making one of those a real-life product. The device should feature a big foldable display, making tablets more portable than ever.

This isn’t the first time we have heard about Samsung potentially expanding its foldable lineup. We finally saw a third model this year. It remains to be seen if the company will launch a fourth or even fifth foldable in 2025. Its foldable market share has declined sharply in recent years and more players enter the market. The firm is likely hoping for a comeback with its new offerings next year.
