Samsung’s One UI 7.0 beta still seems to be several weeks away. The company reportedly has a lot of things to work on and is in no position to start beta programs anytime soon. In the meantime, it continues to prepare One UI 7.0 builds for more Galaxy phones. The Korean firm recently started testing the big update internally for the Galaxy A55.
Samsung is testing the One UI 7.0 update for the Galaxy A55
Over the past few weeks, we have seen several Galaxy devices with Android 15 or One UI 7.0 on benchmarking platforms. Samsung’s servers also revealed internal test builds for many of them. The Galaxy A55 is the latest phone to get a One UI 7.0 test build. X user @MlindyMrinal2 broke the news the other day. An image posted on their X handle reveals the build number A556BXXU4BXGA.
If you can read Samsung’s firmware numbers for Galaxy devices, it’s the first major One UI update for the Galaxy A55 (the fourth letter from the last changes from A to B — the current official build number is A556BXXS4AXF3). Of course, the build number is of little significance here as we are looking at a test build. However, this tells us that Samsung is hard at work on the big OS update.
The update will bring a host of UI changes with the company focusing on improving the aesthetics and feel of the Galaxy experience. It has revamped the Quick Panel, lock screen, app icons, and other system UI elements. We are expecting smoother animations too. One UI 7.0 will also introduce new features that make your Galaxy devices play nicer with each other for seamless cross-device functionality.
Unfortunately, it’s taking Samsung longer than expected to release the first One UI 7.0 beta. A mid-August release is looking unlikely at this point. When the beta programs go official, the Galaxy S24 series should be the first to it. Samsung will add more features with One UI 7.1 on the Galaxy S25 series next year. We have already opened sign-ups for our Galaxy S25 mystery boxes if you plan to buy the phones.
