Samsung has launched an AI Subscription Club program for its AI-equipped products. However, it isn’t what you might think — there’s no paid tier for Galaxy AI features on smartphones just yet. Instead, the company introduced a subscription model for its home appliances.
Samsung now lets you rent its home appliances with AI Subscription Club
Samsung makes a wide range of home appliances, including refrigerators, washing machines, microwave ovens, ranges, and vacuum cleaners. Most of its new-generation appliances feature built-in AI capabilities — more than 90% models, according to the company. Its new AI Subscription Club program lets people rent these products for a monthly fee rather than outright buy them. It applies to TVs as well.
The program has “the advantage of lowering the initial cost when purchasing a product, allowing more consumers to use Samsung’s latest products at an affordable price,” Samsung explains (translated from Korean). The monthly fee varies depending on the product’s full price as well as the services you select. Subscribers can rent an appliance for up to 60 months and cancel a subscription anytime.
Currently available in South Korea, the “All-in-One” plan also includes free repair service, visit care, and self-care for your rented AI appliance. If you decide to buy a product, you can select the “Smart” plan for repair and care services. It is available even if you purchase the appliance in installments rather than full payment. You can choose additional services for 36 months or 60 months.
Samsung’s care services include comprehensive product inspection, replacement of consumables, and interior and exterior cleaning. “We plan to expand our subscription products so that more consumers can experience ‘AI Life’ in the future,” a Samsung executive said. “With the launch of the ‘AI Subscription Club,’ we will complete the ‘AI=Samsung’ formula and realize the vision of ‘AI for All’ in all areas.”
As far as Galaxy AI for smartphones and tablets is concerned, Samsung has announced that it will remain free until the end of 2025. The company hasn’t disclosed further plans yet. It’s unclear if it will take all Galaxy AI features behind a paywall or offer a few for free.
