While the Galaxy S25 Slim may make an appearance at Samsung’s upcoming Unpacked event, its market debut could be delayed. New evidence suggests the company doesn’t plan to release it alongside the rest of the lineup, i.e., the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. The Galaxy Ring 2 may follow a similar pattern, and possibly the rumored smart glasses too.
Galaxy S25 Slim may not be available to purchase in January
The Galaxy S25 Slim is a completely new product in Samsung’s flagship smartphone lineup. Bearing the model number SM-S937, it appears to slot between the S25+ (SM-S936) and S25 Ultra (SM-S938) — the base model is SM-S931. While the company started gathering regulatory certifications for the regular trio early this year, the Slim joined the fray much later.
This suggested it would not go official alongside its siblings at Unpacked in early 2025. However, there have been some reports hinting at a January launch for the Galaxy S25 Slim. New evidence doesn’t support this theory though.
Spotted by Android Authority, the latest One UI 7.0 beta build contains the model number of some unreleased Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and possibly a Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition 2. The list also contains model numbers of the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. The Slim is missing from the list.
This suggests Samsung may not launch it alongside the regular flagships in January. The company might tease the device at the upcoming event, like how it teased the Galaxy Ring at the Galaxy S24 launch. A full market release may follow in the second quarter. We may be wrong though, as the said list already mentions the new foldables expected much later.
Notably, the leaked list refers to the US carrier-locked models of the phones (with U at the end of the model number). So does this mean the Galaxy S25 Slim won’t arrive stateside? Probably no. Samsung has already obtained certifications for its locked unit (SM-S937U). More details are awaited.
