A few years ago, Samsung consistently released new monthly security patches ahead of schedule, often before the new month even began. This punctuality became the norm for a long time. However, in recent years, the company has fallen behind, frequently delaying these updates until several days into the new month. That pattern has finally changed, as Samsung has already rolled out the April 2025 security update.
Samsung’s recent One UI 7 beta releases bundle the April security update
Samsung recently rolled out new One UI 7 beta updates for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy S24, and Galaxy S23 lineups. Alongside new features and bug fixes, these beta releases also contain the April security patch. Of course, neither Samsung nor Google has detailed the vulnerability patches for the next month.
Google typically shares its updated monthly security bulletin on the first Monday of the new month, so the April patch details may not be available until April 7. The Korean firm will then publish its April SMR (Security Maintenance Release) details, complete with Google’s patches and its own Galaxy-specific fixes. As usual, the upcoming security patch should address several dozen vulnerabilities across the Galaxy family.
While Samsung has yet to roll out the April SMR to any device running non-beta One UI versions (One UI 6.1.1 or older), it should just be a matter of time now. The company has already announced plans to release the stable One UI 7 update on April 7. The Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 will lead the line, followed by others.
Samsung may bundle the April security patch with the One UI 7 update for Galaxy devices. Some phones could receive the update with the March patch, though. We will let you know when it publishes the patch details or rolls out the big Android 15 update.
