Samsung has officially launched its latest mid-range phones, including the Galaxy A26. It packs a solid set of features for the price, bringing some key upgrades over its predecessor. One of the most notable changes is the display technology. For the first time, Samsung is using an AMOLED display driver chip (DDI) from DB GlobalChip, a South Korean company making its debut in the smartphone OLED market.

The Galaxy A26 comes with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display, a 120Hz refresh rate, and FHD+ resolution (1080x2340pixels). One of the big upgrades is its new OLED driver chip from DB GlobalChip (via Korea Economic Daily), which improves power efficiency and durability. It also includes a timing controller (TCON) to cut down on extra components and optimize battery life. Samsung first used this chip in its rigid OLED panels before bringing it to the A26.

Besides the display, the A26 has some solid improvements over its predecessor. It now has an IP67 rating, making it more resistant to dust and water. Samsung is also stepping up its software support, launching the phone with One UI 7 and promising six years of Android updates. It runs on the Exynos 1380 chipset and packs a 5,000mAh battery with 25W wired charging.

Samsung expects to sell 10 million units this year, showing strong demand. The Galaxy A26 is priced at $299 in the US and comes in a single 128GB model in Black. You can also use trade-in deals to knock down the price by swapping in an old phone or tablet.
