One UI 7.0 is the biggest software update in a while, and it’s finally starting to roll out. So far, only Korea has received it, but the update will soon expand to other regions — starting with the Galaxy S24 series, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6. Samsung Korea has released the official One UI 7.0 rollout roadmap for eligible devices, which states that the rollout will continue through June.
Hot on its heels, One UI 7.0 brings some fresh new features, including updates to the Weather app. Samsung is giving its stock Weather app a major facelift with One UI 7.0, adding some smarter, cleaner, and more helpful features.
Samsung updates Weather app as part of One UI 7.0 suite
Previously, Samsung offered a whole bunch of weather widgets in different styles, but with One UI 7.0, that’s cleaning up. Now, there are just two main widget types: Current Weather and Forecast, and Weather and Clock. Each one comes in four sizes (2×1, 2×2, 4×1, and 4×2), and they’re fully resizable, so you can customize the layout however you like. You can check out the changes in screenshots, courtesy of Samsung Korea forum, comparing the present app with the updated interface.
One of the more interesting additions is a new “life forecast” feature. Instead of just showing you the basics like temperature or chance of rain, the app now offers activity-specific guidance. It covers things like running, biking, camping, hiking, gardening, and even golf. You can enable up to three activities at a time, and the app will use emoji-based visuals and short blurbs to let you know if the next few hours are a good time to head out. There’s also a forecast for stargazing, which starts tracking conditions from sunset.
Samsung is also fixing one of the more annoying bits of its old weather app: switching between cities. Instead of digging through menus, you can now just swipe between locations you’ve added. It’s a small change, but it makes jumping between places feel way smoother. The detail view’s getting a bit of love too — readouts like UV Index, Humidity, Wind, Dew Point, Pressure, and Visibility now come with short explainer text to give you more context at a glance.
