The Galaxy S25’s first software update is now available widely across the US. The rollout began last week for carrier-locked units on select networks. Samsung recently expanded the update to factory-unlocked units as well. This update brings the latest security patch and camera fixes, alongside a few other changes.

The Galaxy S25 series is widely receiving its first update in the US

Last week, Samsung released the first update for the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. While it first rolled out to Korean users, the update reached stateside in no time. However, the initial rollout only covered carrier-locked units, with T-Mobile getting a preference. After a few days of waiting, the new flagships are receiving the update across the country.

Unlocked Galaxy S25 units are getting an identical build number (S93*U1UEU1AYB3) as their carrier-locked counterparts (S93*USQU1AYB3). The changelog includes the February 2025 security patch, which addresses over 40 vulnerabilities, one of which is a critical Android OS flaw known to be exploited in the wild. The rest are high-severity flaws across various system elements.

Additionally, Samsung is rolling out a fix for a camera issue on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Some users reported banding or blurry patches in low-light photos. The Ultra model also has some charging issues. It charges at a widely inconsistent rate. It’s unclear if Samsung fixed this problem with the February update. The changelog also mentions fixes for a call-related issue.

The Galaxy S25 trio will soon receive this update in other parts of the world. If you are using the new Samsung flagship, watch out for an update in the coming days. You can navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check for updates manually. The OTA (over the air) firmware size should be around 600MB, depending on the model and region.
