Samsung Expands Galaxy Book 5 Series Globally Starting February

by | Jan 7, 2025 | Galaxy Book, News

Samsung has announced a global expansion of its Galaxy Book 5 series laptops. The company will roll out the Galaxy Book 5 Pro and Galaxy Book 5 360 in several global markets starting in February, including the US. They join the Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 launched in September last year. The Galaxy Book 5 Pro also made its debut in South Korea last week.

Samsung’s Galaxy Book 5 lineup goes global next month

Unlike the Galaxy Book 4 series, Samsung’s Book 5 lineup has had a staggered launch. The Book 5 Pro 360 debuted a few months ago, followed by the Korean release of the Book 5 Pro last week. Now, Samsung has introduced the Book 5 360. While the Pro 360 is already widely available, the Pro and 360 models will launch globally next month.

Ahead of that, Samsung has revealed the full specs for both. The Galaxy Book 5 Pro comes in two display sizes — 14-inch and 16-inch — both featuring high-resolution (2880 x 1800 pixels) AMOLED touchscreens with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 120% DCI-P3 color volume, 48Hz to 120Hz variable refresh rate, and 500 nits of peak brightness. You get a backlit keyboard with Numpad and Windows 11 Home.

The laptops are powered by Intel’s Core Ultra 7/5 CPUs (Intel EVO-certified) with AI Boost NPU and Intel Arc graphics. Samsung offers 16GB and 32GB RAM options, coupled with 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage variants. The 14-inch model packs a 63.1Wh battery, while the 16-inch model has a 76.1Wh battery. Both support 65W USB-C charging.

The Galaxy Book 5 Pro boasts Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity alongside two Thunderbolt 4, one USB-A, microSD, HP, and HDMI 2.1 ports. It also offers dual microphones, quad speakers with Dolby ATMOS, and a 2MP FHD camera with Staggered HDR. The 14-inch unit weighs 1.23kg while the 16-inch one weighs 1.56kg. The laptops sport ultra-thin designs measuring 11.6mm and 12.5mm in thickness, respectively.

The Galaxy Book 5 360 is expected to be a more affordable entry point to Samsung’s convertible lineup. It features a 15.6-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080), 60Hz refresh rate, 16:9 aspect ratio, 500 nits of brightness, and 120% DCI-P3 color volume. You get the same CPU, GPU, NPU, memory, and storage configurations as the Pro model.

Its battery capacity is 68.1Wh, with Samsung still offering 65W charging. This model comes with stereo speakers and dual microphones, supports Dolby ATMOS, and weighs 1.46kg with a 13.7mm thickness. The rest of the setup remains unchanged, including the Gray and Silver color options. These laptops are designed to integrate seamlessly with Galaxy phones and offer a wide range of AI features.

Price and availability

While Samsung hasn’t disclosed the pricing details, the Galaxy Book 5 Pro debuted in Korea with an approximate retail price of $1,200 for the 14-inch model and $1,900 for the 16-inch model. The company says its new laptops will be available in Canada, France, Germany, the UK, the US, and more markets in February. It hasn’t shared a specific release date yet.
