Samsung Could Reveal Smart Glasses Sometime Later This Year

by | Mar 23, 2025 | Galaxy XR, News

Looks like Samsung has some exciting plans ahead! The company recently teased the Galaxy XR—Project Moohan—during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Before that, it briefly hinted at the upcoming Android XR headset during the January Unpacked keynote. But there was another device teased alongside it. And no, we’re not talking about the tri-fold. We’re talking about Samsung’s smart glasses. A new report is shedding more light on development.

Samsung will reportedly announce smart glasses before the year ends

According to the South Korean outlet ETNews (via Jukanlosreve), Samsung’s smart glasses could debut—or at least be announced—before the year wraps up. That’s what Samsung is aiming for. The report highlights that this move is part of the company’s strategy to “conquer the extended reality (XR) market.” While XR is still a niche segment, it’s a growing one. That’s why, if Samsung times the launch of its XR headsets and smart glasses right, it could gain an edge over competitors.

Samsung Teases Multifold, Project Moohan, Smart Glasses at Galaxy Unpacked January

According to the report, Samsung has internally codenamed the smart glasses “HAEAN.” One of the key challenges in developing smart glasses is ensuring a comfortable fit for different face shapes. Since everyone’s facial structure is unique, Samsung is putting significant effort into designing a model that suits various users. Another challenge is device control, as physical buttons or remotes don’t align with the sleek, minimalistic design of smart glasses. To address this, Samsung is reportedly incorporating cameras and sensors capable of recognizing hand gestures.

So, it looks like Samsung could launch both its Android XR device and smart glasses in 2025. Additionally, previous leaks have hinted at details about the smart glasses. Rumors suggest it might feature Qualcomm’s AR1 chipset, a 12MP Sony IMX681 camera, a 155mAh battery, and a weight of around 50 grams (0.11 lb). However, since this information surfaced back in November last year, it’s best to take it with a grain of salt.
