Samsung confirms Galaxy S24 FE, prepares for its launch

by | Aug 6, 2024 | Galaxy S, News

Samsung has started preparations for the launch of its next Fan Edition smartphone, the Galaxy S24 FE. The company recently published an official support page for the phone on its website. It didn’t reveal anything else, but this is a confirmation that the phone exists in its pipeline and is headed to the market soon. A launch date is still missing, though.

Samsung adds Galaxy S24 FE support pages ahead of its launch

Rumors about the Galaxy S24 FE have been circulating for several months now. Leaks have even revealed a thing or two about the upcoming so-called “affordable flagship”. We now have an official confirmation of its existence. Samsung recently added a support page for the phone to its official website in France. We might soon see similar web pages in other regions.

As usual, the support page doesn’t reveal anything apart from the phone’s model number. The Galaxy S24 FE bears the model number SM-S721B, where “B” denotes the global version sold in Europe, Africa, Latin America, and parts of Asia. The US version has the suffix “U”, while the Korean version has “N”. Samsung may also launch a few more regional variants of the device.

Codenamed R12, the Galaxy S24 FE may come in Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset variants, the same as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Samsung could pair the chip with 8GB/12GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage. Leaks say the device will sport a 6.65-inch display with an under-display fingerprint scanner. It should boast an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance.

Samsung might equip the Galaxy S24 FE with the same camera setup as the Galaxy S24 — a 50MP main shooter, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The selfie camera could be a 10MP unit. The phone should offer stereo speakers and wireless charging, though the battery capacity and charging speed are not known yet.

This 5G-ready smartphone might run Android 14-based One UI 6.1 software out of the box. Leaks have hinted at Black, Gray, Light Blue, Light Green, and Yellow color options for the device. Samsung could be planning to launch the Galaxy S24 FE in September or October. The Galaxy S25 series will follow in January 2025. You can already sign up for our Galaxy S25 mystery boxes.
