Back in November 2024, Samsung released its mobile cloud gaming platform in North America. Since this platform allows users to play games instantly without downloading, developers and publishers can reach millions of Galaxy device users easily. The company now wants to increase revenue potential and simplify game development with a complete suite of software development kits (SDKs) and tools.
Samsung is working hard to improve the Galaxy Store ecosystem with cloud gaming
It seems Samsung is trying hard to improve the Galaxy Store app ecosystem. Starting May 15, 2025, the company is shifting to an 80/20 revenue split for games. This means developers and publishers will now keep 80% of their earnings instead of the previous 70%. This revenue split change will make the Galaxy Store more developer-friendly.
Samsung’s mobile cloud gaming platform and Galaxy Store aim to help mobile game developers and publishers of all sizes. A mobile game called Klondike Adventures, developed by VIZOR saw millions of new players in less than a year. They got a 25% better return on ad spend compared to normal campaigns. This means Samsung’s cloud gaming platform is helping developers to reach their games to the masses.
“Our cloud gaming platform is changing the mobile landscape for both publishers and players,” said Jong Woo, Vice President and Head of Game Services at Samsung Electronics. “By converting an ad click directly into gameplay and eliminating the need for app store downloads, we are significantly increasing top-of-funnel conversion rates for publishers’ user acquisition campaigns and driving higher returns on their advertising investments.”
Samsung also has a new approach to performance metrics in cloud gaming. Developers usually measure ad success by how many people install their game. But cloud gaming eliminates the need to install an app. Samsung partnered with AppsFlyer to create a new way to track players. Now, when someone clicks an ad and starts playing a game in the cloud, it still counts as an app install. This will help developers see if their ads are working and how to improve them.
