Samsung has started rolling out the November 2024 security patch for Galaxy devices. The Galaxy Tab S7 FE is the first to receive the new security update. The company has yet to detail the vulnerabilities patched in next month’s SMR (Security Maintenance Release). The details should be available early next week.
Galaxy Tab S7 FE grabs Samsung’s November security update
Samsung rolls out new security updates to its Android-powered Galaxy smartphones and tablets every month. Called SMRs (Security Maintenance Releases), these updates address vulnerabilities across various device components. Even before we step into November, the company has released the next month’s update, with the Galaxy Tab S7 FE starting the proceedings.
The mid-range tablet is currently picking up the new SMR in Samsung’s home country, South Korea. The update comes with the firmware build number T735NKOS7DXJ1. The official changelog (h/t @SamSWUpdate on X) confirms the update is all about the latest security fixes. There aren’t any other changes to talk about. Samsung will soon release this security patch for the Galaxy Tab S7 FE in other markets.
The build number may vary but it should be the same changelog globally. As said earlier, Samsung hasn’t detailed the patch yet. It is expected to share the updated security bulletin for November 2024 SMR next week, after Google publishes the latest Android Security Bulletin. As usual, the new SMR should contain several dozen vulnerability patches, including a few critical fixes.
The Galaxy Tab S7 FE shipped with Android 11 and has received updates to Android 12, Android 13, and Android 14. Samsung updated it to One UI 6.1 earlier this year. The tablet should also pick up the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 and One UI 7.1. The new versions will arrive in the early months of 2025. The company will begin One UI 7.0 beta testing later this year, starting with the Galaxy S24 series.
