Google has released a new update for Quick Share for Windows PCs, including Samsung’s Galaxy Books. The latest update adds a couple of new features and addresses various bugs. It is already rolling out to users worldwide.
Quick Share update for Galaxy Books brings new visibility setting controls
The Quick Share app for Windows PCs is now maintained by Google. The name itself is “Quick Share from Google,” though it was rebranded after Google merged its Nearby Share platform with Samsung’s Quick Share. Over the past few months, the company has rolled out several major updates to the app. The last one came at the end of October, introducing a dozen of bug fixes.
The app is now picking up version 1.0.2034.4 with another long changelog. According to Google’s official release notes, the latest update for its Windows Quick Share app introduces an option to change your visibility settings from the Windows System Tray. You can now switch your visibility between No One, Contacts, Your Devices, and Everyone without opening the app. This update also adds the Quick Share logo to app animations.
Apart from these additions, Google fixed an issue where the app classified URLs as text instead of links. It also patched a bug that blocked you from creating a shortcut to Quick Share from the Start menu on your computer. You can now create a shortcut through the “All Apps” after installing the app. Last but not least, Google addressed a problem where the app launch was delayed after you signed into your Windows account.
Version 1.0.2034.4 of Quick Share from Google is now available to Windows computer users globally. The latest should automatically install once available for you. You can check the version number from Settings. Simply open the app, click on the Settings button (gear icon in the top right corner), and scroll down to see the version number. If the new version isn’t installed, wait a few days and check again.
