Qualcomm Showcases Samsung’s XR Headset at Snapdragon Summit 2025

Samsung’s first Android XR headset (codenamed Project Moohan) is set to hit the market before the end of 2025. The Korean firm developed the wearable device in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm. The American semiconductor company recently showcased the headset at its Snapdragon Summit 2025 in Hawaii. It looks like Qualcomm wants to tell the world that its Snapdragon platform is ready to power XR devices.

Project Moohan made its public appearance once again

Samsung’s Android XR headset is no longer a mystery, as real-world mockups were already shown at MWC 2025. Built on Google’s Android XR platform, Project Moohan will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, which delivers processing power for AI capabilities. At the Summit, Qualcomm showcased the XR headset in the Training Zone, one of the event’s interactive zones.

Unfortunately, the company did not share any specifications of the XR headset. According to earlier rumors, the XR headset will have eight front cameras and two inside for eye tracking. It could include sensors, a touchpad, and buttons for power and volume. Furthermore, the headset might also work with handheld controllers.

The device will reportedly feature Sony’s OLEDoS display with an impressive pixel density of about 3800 PPI. That’s higher than the Apple Vision Pro’s 3391 PPI, suggesting Samsung’s offering may deliver a clearer visual experience. There’s also chatter that some units of the XR headset may use Samsung Display’s OLEDoS panel, though specifications remain under wraps.

As far as launch is concerned, Samsung will reportedly unveil the XR headset via an online event on October 21. It could be available for purchase in the Korean market right away, with the global market to follow later. Rumor has it that the device could cost between $2,000 and $3,000. That’s pretty expensive, but still cheaper than the Apple Vision Pro, which retails $3,500 in the US. We will let you know when we have new information about Project Moohan. Stay tuned.
