One UI 7 Faces Delays, But One UI 8 May Arrive on Time

by | Feb 19, 2025 | News, One UI

Samsung has been remarkably poor with its Android 15-based One UI 7 update. We are still awaiting the stable One UI 7.0 rollout, while rumors suggest One UI 7.1 and 7.1.1 have been canceled altogether. Fortunately, these delays could be an isolated case due to the scale of the update. Samsung is expected to return to its usual update cycle with One UI 8, based on Android 16.

Rumors suggest One UI 8 may not face any delays

Over the past few weeks, multiple reports have suggested that Samsung might roll out the One UI 8 update on time. By that, we mean the company will follow the same schedule as One UI 6. X user @Tonysamsunglove reiterates the claim. According to them, Samsung will release the stable One UI 8.0 version between October and November this year.

It will follow up with One UI 8.1 alongside the Galaxy S26 series in January 2026, and then introduce One UI 8.1.1 with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 in June or July 2026. This has been the usual schedule, and Samsung might get back to it soon.

However, when it comes to One UI 7, everything is broken. Samsung is still beta testing One UI 7.0 for the Galaxy S24 series. There are hopes that the stable version will arrive in March, but some suggest it could be delayed until May. That’s six months behind the schedule as compared to One UI 6.0.

Moreover, Samsung shipped the Galaxy S25 series with One UI 7.0 instead of 7.1. Recent reports suggest there will be no One UI 7.1 this year. Samsung might even cancel One UI 7.1.1, instead shipping the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 with One UI 7.0.1. It may not be as big an update as One UI 6.1.1.

With One UI 7 surrounded by uncertainty and delays, we only hope that rumors about One UI 8 are accurate. Otherwise, fans are already losing patience and any delays in the One UI 8 release could hurt Samsung big time. Google has already rolled out two public beta builds for Android 16, with the stable version expected in June. Stick around for more.
