Samsung pushes One UI 7 to the Galaxy S25 launch in 2025
When Sally Hyesoon Jeong, a senior executive at Samsung’s Mobile Experience Division, took the stage at SDC 2024, expectations were high for the unveiling of One UI 7. While she did confirm the new version, she also delivered some disappointing news. Although the beta will be available for developers later this year, the stable release has been postponed until next year.
Samsung didn’t specify why it’s delaying the One UI 7 release till the Galaxy S25 launch. The new version is based on Android 15, which is already available to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). However, One UI 7 appears to be a massive update, possibly too big for the company to complete its development and sufficient testing in time for an earlier release.
The update brings deeper AI integrations and experiences to Galaxy phones. However, the biggest changes may come to the UI. Samsung has promised a “brand new UX design” for a simple, impactful, and emotive user experience. It aims a purposeful simplicity across the UI while creating a new signature impression and new UI elements for positive emotional responses from users.
One UI 7 has long been rumored to be the biggest update in Samsung’s One UI history. Based on what was unveiled at SDC 2024, it certainly seems to live up to that hype. While the wait for its official release might feel long, we hope it’ll be worth it when the update finally arrives. The Galaxy S25 series is still three months away, so we can expect plenty more leaks. Perhaps the beta program will kick off soon — only time will tell.
