One UI 7 could bring some important updates to the RegiStar app. Samsung is considering reintroducing the small gear icon indicator for homescreen shortcuts created with the Good Lock module. The app might also add the ability to check time with a tap on the back.
Samsung might be planning key updates for RegiStar in One UI 7
RegiStar is a Good Lock module for customizing the system Settings app. You can reorganize the app menus to keep frequently accessed items at the top. The app also allows you to create homescreen shortcuts for Settings menus for quicker reach. Earlier, these shortcuts featured a small gear icon in the bottom right corner to indicate that they were added via RegiStar.
Samsung removed this indicator in recent versions of the app. A Galaxy user recently took to the official community forum to question this removal. As the user pointed out, the indicators appear in the Edge Pane settings (when configuring the Tasks panel) but not on the homescreen. A forum moderator responded saying the Good Lock team will consider reintroducing those indicators.
The moderator didn’t specify when this update might arrive. However, with Samsung approaching the One UI 7 beta release, we expect RegiStar to regain indicators for homescreen shortcuts following the upcoming major update. The beta testing of Samsung’s Android 15-based update is expected to begin in November. The stable release will follow in early 2025.
The Galaxy S25 series will run One UI 7 out of the box before the company expands it to other models. Samsung is also rumored to introduce a “Check Time with Back-Tap” feature for the RegiStar app. It allows you to check the time even when the screen is off. This feature may also become available in the Good Lock module with One UI 7. We’ll keep you updated as more information comes in.
