Samsung first introduced the Auto Blocker feature with One UI 6. Since then, it has been consistently improved with several updates, the latest of which arrived with One UI 6.1.1 this summer. Now, as Samsung prepares One UI 7.0, it is focusing more on security by adding new security features to the Auto Blocker.
According to a changelog, courtesy of APKMirror, One UI 7.0 will strengthen the Maximum Restrictions mode in the Samsung Auto Blocker 1.1.00.28 update. As you’d expected, this update will be adding an extra layer of protection on Galaxy phones.
Auto Blocker will bring Maximum Restrictions mode with these three features
Per the changelog, the upcoming Maximum Restrictions mode in One UI 7.0 will introduce three new features, including the option to block USB connections, 2G networks, and automatic reconnection to non-secure Wi-Fi networks.
While you may have already heard about blocking USB connections, here’s a recap: it blocks the USB port for anything other than charging your device. This prevents anyone from accessing your device via USB. Additionally, the Maximum Restrictions mode will block 2G connections, which are gradually being phased out in most parts of the world in favor of next-generation network tech. Another reason for blocking 2G could be its susceptibility to attacks.
Non-secure Wi-Fi networks have always posed a risk for cyberattacks or, more generally, data theft. Fortunately, the changelog suggests that the Maximum Restrictions mode will prevent your device from automatically connecting to open, unsecured Wi-Fi networks. It will also disable certain Samsung apps, such as Messages and Gallery, and block the activation of device admin apps or work profiles.
That said, One UI 7.0 will officially be available for supported Galaxy phones in 2025, with the Beta Program expected to launch later this month. As usual, expectations are high for the upcoming Galaxy S25 series, which is just around the corner.
