One UI 7 has been long rumored to bring massive changes to Samsung’s custom Android skin. We went hands-on with the upcoming update at SDC 2024 a few hours ago and it sure looks like a major overhaul. The company has tweaked a lot of things to enable a smoother, fluid Galaxy experience. Here’s an early look at the revamped system animations in One UI 7.
One UI 7 animations promise a smoother Galaxy experience
Samsung’s One UI animations have always lagged behind iOS and some Android skins. The company has set out to change that with One UI 7. It’s investing a lot of time, energy, and resources to provide a top-notch Galaxy experience with its upcoming Android 15-based update. Industry insiders say it’s rare for the Korean firm to care so much about animations and system fluidity.
It appears the efforts have borne fruit. As you can see in the embedded X post below, One UI 7 animations feel lightyears ahead of One UI 6.1.1. They are fluid and visually attractive, with a trail of the app icon briefly appearing as you launch the app. It’s like nothing we have ever seen on a Samsung phone, let alone One UI, and we’ve been using Samsung phones forever.
I don't see many ppl notice this but recent OneUI builds have updated some of its system app animation with the app icon pack popping up and then faded very quickly.

This is a result of the Korean biggie finally considering system animations integral to a fluid user experience. As tipster Ice Universe notes, One UI 7 animations bridge the gap to Apple’s iOS. They previously said One UI 7.1 would be smoother than the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s iOS 18. Samsung might still have work to do on the new update, but early signs have been promising.
The company will release One UI 7 beta in December. We might see more leaks and rumors about the update before the public release. The stable rollout will follow in early 2025, with Samsung directly debuting the new version on the Galaxy S25 series. It’s a long wait, but you can’t do anything about it. Hopefully, One UI 7 won’t disappoint when it finally arrives.
