We thought the 2024 version of SDC might be quite boring, with a keynote short on One UI 7.0 info. Quite the opposite, as Samsung brought a few demo devices running One UI 7.0 to the event. We already previewed the new quick settings and notification design in One UI 7.0, but there is even more to share. Early leaks suggested an entire redesign of many key Galaxy icons for 7.0 and that is indeed the case.
The new Galaxy Store icon, Gallery icon, Settings icon, and more are visible on the demo devices at SDC 2024. It appears that Samsung did go with the more colorful option for many of these redesigns, particularly the Gallery icon. The Settings icon is quite a bit different than the original leaks and renders, with a subtle black color outlining the usual Settings cog.
One UI 7.0 is slated to give a full redesign to the mobile OS, with new animations and blur enchantments. As far as the icons go, many of them are nice, but the design language seems disjointed. There are some colorful choices, while others remain quite subdued. It is certainly possible that these icon designs are not final of course, as One UI 7.0 will not released until 2025 in stable form.
