You might wonder how we can call the One UI 7.0 beta a disappointment when there’s so much to be excited about. And you’re right! There are many impressive features in the One UI 7.0 beta. However, there are also some areas where One UI 7.0 leaves a lot to be desired. Here’s why we’re a bit let down.
Where’s the App Lock, Samsung?
Rumors swirling during the months of anticipation suggested that security and privacy would take center stage in One UI 7.0. They do, yet one key feature is still missing in One UI 7.0 beta: the rumored native App Lock feature.
Currently, Samsung offers app-locking through the Secure Folder, a feature that lets you store apps, photos, videos, and other files in a separate, encrypted space. While this is a great solution, the addition of a built-in App Lock was supposed to be cherry on the cake. It would offer a quicker and more user-friendly way to protect individual apps.

Sadly, the App Lock hasn’t made the cut in the One UI 7.0 beta version. So, once again, we are left waiting — and disappointed.
Dark Mode Icons aren’t darkening as they should
On the other side of the fence, Apple rolled out Dark Mode icons in iOS 18, and they look terrific, by the way. The icons automatically adjust to fit the dark theme. Devs were even encouraged to update their apps to align with this functionality.
We were hoping for something similar with One UI 7.0. After all, it seemed like a natural fit. Unfortunately, Samsung’s take on Dark Mode still doesn’t include this feature, at least with One UI 7.0 beta. While it’s still in beta, the lack of this visual consistency is a bit of a missed opportunity.
Fingers crossed that Samsung will roll it out in the final version of One UI 7.0, but for now, the icons just aren’t “darkening” as they should.
