One UI 7.0 Changes Lock Screen Notifications, But You Can Go Back

by | Dec 6, 2024 | News, One UI

The Android 15-based One UI 7.0 beta is finally here, rolling out to the Galaxy S24 series—though not for the FE model. If you’ve been keeping an eye on all the new features in the One UI 7.0 beta, you may have noticed a revamped look for Lock Screen notifications. However, this change isn’t exactly hitting the mark for everyone. And that’s okay.

One UI 7.0 has a new way to show you lock screen notifications

Right after installing the One UI 7.0 beta on our Galaxy S24 Ultra, we were pretty impressed with the new look — in all fairness. However, after engaging with users on X, we also came across some who wanted to roll things back to the way they were before. To that, we can confirm: Yes, you can change the One UI 7.0’s new lock screen notifications to the Cards view.

It’s not some hidden trick or workaround. Samsung gives you three options for displaying notifications on the lock screen. These modes are: Dot, Icons, and Cards. You can choose whichever one fits your style best.

To change how notifications appear on the One UI 7.0 lock screen, simply head to Settings > Notifications > Lock Screen and select Dot, Icons, or Cards. Additionally, when you choose Icons or Dot, you can swipe down anywhere on the lock screen to expand card notifications. But if you’re not a fan of the change, just opt for the Cards view.

One UI 7.0 beta is rolling, and we’re pumped up

Samsung certainly kept us on the edge of our seats as it finally rolled out the One UI 7.0 beta after months of anticipation. We kept hoping for a sneak peek, but our wishes went unheard—until now. We’re diving into the One UI 7.0 beta, and you can check out a detailed video showcasing all the new features.

While only the Galaxy S24 series has gotten a taste of the One UI 7.0 beta so far, Samsung is expected to roll out the Android 15-based beta to the S23 series and beyond soon. Meanwhile, the full One UI 7.0 stable version is expected to land around the Galaxy Unpacked event.
