The One UI 7.0 beta is now rolling out to the Galaxy S24 series (except for the FE, of course) in Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK, and the US. As expected, One UI 7.0 beta brings a slew of features. Among them, one of the most requested features is also here: a vertical app drawer. Finally.
One UI 7.0 beta brings a vertical app drawer for your Galaxy
Confirming the previous rumors, Samsung has finally introduced a vertical app drawer, which was one of the most requested features for One UI 7.0. Now, you no longer need a third-party launcher to scroll horizontally to find your favorite app. Instead, you can vertically scroll up or down to view your apps. There’s also a search bar on the bottom.
It fits well with the overall Android experience, as most Android phones on the market offer a vertical app drawer. This also means that if you’re thinking of upgrading to a Galaxy device, you won’t find it difficult to adjust. After all, small details matter to many.
Those who don’t like the change have an option to roll back
For those who don’t like the change and might be looking for a way out, there’s a simple trick. Here’s how you can switch between the vertical and horizontal app drawer layouts on your Galaxy running One UI 7.0 beta:
Go to the app drawer, tap the button next to the search bar, select Sort, and choose either Alphabetical order for the vertical layout or Custom order for the horizontal one. If the horizontal layout results in empty spaces, tap the same button and tap Clean up pages to fix those gaps. You can also move icons around manually, and if the spaces return, simply repeat the Clean up pages process.
The One UI 7.0 (Android 15) beta is live. So you can now go ahead and try the much-anticipated update and see for yourself whether Samsung has done a terrific job or not. Wondering if your Galaxy phone will receive One UI 7.0 or not? Check this out.
