While the first One UI 7.0 beta update is quite stable, it isn’t without hiccups. There are a few noticeable issues across the system, while some features are missing too. Animations also look jittery at times, especially when opening apps or switching between landscape and portrait homescreen orientations.
One UI 7.0 animations need more work from Samsung
We have now used One UI 7.0 beta for nearly a week, and it certainly feels like a massive upgrade over One UI 6.1.1. Features aside, the new update brings a major UI makeover, enhancing the overall look of Samsung’s custom software. The company has also made substantial improvements to system animations and transitions, resulting in a smoother and more fluid navigation experience.
However, animations are still not perfect. As Ice Universe pointed out, app opening animations feel somewhat dull and forced, lacking the natural fluidity expected. We also noticed a flickering effect on widgets when switching the screen orientation. Of course, this is the first beta build, so some issues are expected. Hopefully, Samsung is taking note and will refine the software based on user feedback.”
In fact, Ice Universe says Samsung is already testing another One UI 7.0 build internally. It has smoother animations and other enhancements. It’s unclear whether the company plans to roll it out to the public as the second beta update. Samsung has been testing this update internally for a long time now, so it won’t release many internal builds to the public.
Rumors suggest the second One UI 7.0 beta build could drop as early as this week. Samsung may also soon expand the beta program to more devices. It is expected to release beta updates for a few foldables and mid-range models. The stable One UI 7.0 update will arrive in the first quarter of 2025, potentially in late January or early February.
