Samsung may not equip all Galaxy S25 Ultra models with 16GB RAM. According to recent reports on X, the base storage variant (256GB) will feature 12GB RAM instead. This aligns with an earlier benchmark run that showed the phone with 12 gigs of memory.
Galaxy S25 Ultra may have a 12GB RAM variant
Samsung is widely expected to offer 16GB RAM on the Galaxy S25 Ultra next year. While a RAM upgrade looks likely, it may not be across the board. You’ll get more RAM only if you purchase the 512GB or 1TB storage variant. Buyers of the 256GB model will still get 12GB RAM, the same as the S24 Ultra. Multiple sources have confirmed this.
While this is a bit disappointing, we aren’t overly surprised. Samsung wants to cut costs wherever possible. Reports suggest the total bill of materials for the Galaxy S25 Ultra has increased substantially, so much that the company cannot absorb this added manufacturing cost. It is likely to increase the prices in some markets if not globally. The Korean biggie probably saves some money by pairing the 256GB variant with 12GB RAM.
Hopefully, it won’t affect the phone’s AI performance. Samsung is expected to introduce new AI features with the Galaxy S25 series. It is allegedly increasing the RAM amount to ensure efficient on-device AI processing. Time will tell whether 12GB RAM would be enough for optimal performance. More details should surface in the coming weeks.
Early buyers may not have to worry, though. Samsung usually offers a free storage upgrade during pre-orders. In that case, buyers will get the 16GB+512GB model at the price of 12GB+256GB.
