Samsung recently rolled out the One UI 7.0 beta for the Galaxy S24 series in select regions, with an expansion to more markets and devices expected soon. The beta gave us a chance to explore and report on several new features in One UI 7.0. But, as always, one question keeps popping up: Do the One UI fonts finally show up in third-party apps this time? You already know the answer — they don’t. However, Samsung isn’t to blame here. The truth is that they don’t work across all apps, and there’s a good reason for that.
The reason why One UI fonts don’t work in all apps is more complicated than you think
The problem isn’t with Samsung but with Android itself. Android lets app developers override the default system fonts within their apps. So, even if you’ve set your Samsung device to use the One UI font system-wide, third-party apps can choose their own fonts. This is part of Android’s open ecosystem, which allows developers to tweak their apps to match their style.
Samsung can’t force third-party developers to use the One UI font in their apps because this is an Android-wide issue. Unless Google introduces stricter rules for font usage within apps, this problem will persist for Galaxy users. While Samsung controls the fonts in its own apps, it has no say over the font choices made by other app developers.
It’s a bigger problem, actually
Until Google tweaks its system to ensure consistent font usage across all apps, users will keep seeing a mix of fonts, even on Samsung’s top-tier One UI devices. Sadly, Google doesn’t seem to have planned such changes in the Android framework, so these font inconsistencies are something Galaxy users will just have to put up with for now. And there you have it — this is why One UI fonts still don’t work in all apps with One UI 7.0.
