Despite early rumors hinting at a charging upgrade, all evidence so far suggests that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will stick with 25W charging. A reliable tipster now claims this is “100% confirmed.” While minor efficiency improvements over the Fold 6 are possible, a jump to 45W charging seems unlikely. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also expected to retain the same charging speed.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 confirmed to miss out on 45W charging boost
Samsung recently obtained the 3C certification for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and Flip FE, all with 25W charging. This wasn’t entirely a surprise, as there haven’t been many rumors about a potential charging boost to 45W. While some insiders suggested this was a possibility, it was long back. All recent developments pointed to an unchanged charging speed for the new Samsung foldables.
We now have “confirmation” from X tipster @PandaFlashPro. They say the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is “100% confirmed” to feature 25W charging. The foldable allegedly supports a maximum of 28W of charging power, but Samsung plans to market it as 25W. In practice, you may notice slightly faster charging compared to the Fold 6, but nothing substantial like you’d get with 45W charging.
Additionally, the tipster appears to suggest that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 can draw up to 23W of power, though Samsung will claim 25W charging (9V/2.77A). As mentioned above, the Galaxy Z Flip FE, which is a new affordable model in Samsung’s foldable lineup, picked up the 3C certification with the same charging rating. We are still awaiting the new tri-fold to appear in the 3C database.
Interestingly, Samsung upgraded its mid-range smartphone lineup to 45W charging this year. Both the Galaxy A56 and A36 charge at the same speed as the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It’s disappointing to see the company limit the most expensive Galaxy phone to just 25W charging. Or maybe we still don’t know the full story. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 should go official in July, so there’s some time for more leaks and rumors.
