WhatsApp is rolling out improved calling features ahead of the holiday season. Alongside improved video calling on mobile and desktop, the Meta-owned messaging platform is adding new call effects and participant selection tools. The latest update will be available globally over the next few days.
WhatsApp gets a holiday boost with the latest update
WhatsApp handles over two billion voice and video calls daily. To enhance users’ calling experience, the company has announced new features and quality improvements. For starters, the fresh update allows users to select specific participants when starting a group call. You don’t have to call everyone in the group. You can manually select members you need to talk to without notifying the rest of the group.
Additionally, WhatsApp has announced ten new video call effects. You can add puppy ears, create an underwater look, or hold a virtual karaoke microphone to make conversations more fun and engaging. These effects make holiday wishes and cheerful video calls more enjoyable. This update is rolling out for both desktop and mobile users worldwide.
Moreover, the desktop app gets an updated Calls tab, making it easier to start calls, create call links, or dial a number. It ensures a smooth and convenient experience for users on larger screens. Alongside these changes, video calls now have better quality and reliability. WhatsApp enhanced your experience with clearer and higher-resolution visuals for both individual and group calls.
As mentioned earlier, these WhatsApp enhancements are now rolling out to users globally. Install the latest version from the Google Play Store to enjoy the new features and quality upgrades. WhatsApp is also testing several other new features, including auto-translation of messages, online counter for groups, and more. These tools are currently available for beta users. We will let you know when WhatsApp pushes them to everyone.
