Samsung SmartThings users, Samsung has released a new update for the app. SmartThings version 1.8.29.24 brings a small but notable change: All “Routines” widgets are now grouped together instead of being displayed as three separate widgets. This update should reach Galaxy users worldwide over the next few days.
Samsung rolls out a new update for its SmartThings app
Like many other apps, SmartThings offers multiple home screen widgets for various functions, including several Routines widgets. However, instead of grouping them all together, Samsung showed three different groups of Rountines widgets for SmartThings, making the UI look cluttered and potentially confusing to users. The new update consolidates them into a single, more organized view.

This change simplifies access to routines while maintaining the same functionality. All existing widget options for SmartThings routines are still available, so you lose nothing. If you rely on SmartThings widgets for automation, check out the update to see the new layout in action.
However, as of this writing, Samsung doesn’t seem to have rolled out SmartThings version 1.8.29.24 widely. We checked on multiple Galaxy phones, and none had received this update. Hopefully, the new version will be available globally soon. You can update the app from the Galaxy Store. While some third-party app stores seem to have already listed APK files for this update, we recommend waiting for the official release rather than sideloading the new version.
To check for Samsung app updates on your Galaxy phone, go to the Galaxy Store, tap on the Menu option (bottom right corner), and select Updates. All available app updates are listed here. Alternatively, you can search for the specific app you want to update. The search bar is available in the top right corner of the Galaxy Store home page. Always install apps from official stores like the Galaxy Store and Google Play Store.
