Samsung announces new QD-OLED and OLED monitors ahead of CES 2025
CES 2025 will take place from January 7 to January 10 in Las Vegas. Ahead of the mega event, Samsung announced five new monitors — Smart Monitor M9 (M90SF), Odyssey OLED G8 (G81SF), Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SF), 27-inch Odyssey 3D (G90XF), and 37-inch ViewFinity S8 (S80UD). The Odyssey OLED G6 stands out as the first-ever QHD (2,560 x 1,440) OLED screen with a 500Hz refresh rate.
Samsung touts a response time of 0.03ms (GTG), enabling smooth visuals and crisp gameplay. The monitor supports NVIDIA G-SYNC, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400, and OLED Glare Free certification. All of these specs also apply to the Odyssey OLED G8. The latter is a 4K (3,840 x 2,160) OLED gaming monitor with a 165 PPI (pixels per inch) pixel density and 240Hz refresh rate.
Additionally, Samsung announced the Smart Monitor M9 featuring a self-illuminating OLED panel. The 32-inch monitor offers 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 165Hz. It features an AI picture optimizer and 4K AI upscaling Pro, which enhances low-quality content to 4K resolution. The monitor provides access to built-in Smart TV apps and Gaming Hub.
The 27-inch Odyssey 3D is another gaming monitor Samsung brings to CES 2025. It comes with a front-facing lenticular lens and a front stereo camera. This allows for a customizable 3D experience without the need for separate 3D glasses. “It can also add a new depth to content by using AI to analyze and convert 2D video into 3D,” Samsung claims.
Finally, Samsung announced the Viewfinity S8, a 37-inch 4K monitor featuring a 16:9 aspect ratio. It offers 34% more screen space than its predecessor for improved productivity. The monitor boasts the TÜV Rheinland certification for “Ergonomic Workspace Display” and features a 90W USB-C connection. Prices and availability details will be revealed after next week’s event.
