Although Samsung has delayed the stable release of One UI 7 to 2025, we caught a sneak peek of the upcoming Android 15-based update at SDC 2024. We’ve already showcased the redesigned notification shade, revamped Quick Panel, new app icons, and the refreshed camera app. Now, we’re excited to reveal the updated One UI 7 power menu, dialer, battery icon, and more.
One UI 7 refreshes the power menu, dialer, and battery icon
Samsung has slightly refreshed the power menu in One UI 7. Instead of squircle buttons matching app icons, the power menu now has circular buttons. We still get the same four buttons — Power off, Restart, Emergency call, and Medical info — placed at an easily reachable height, plus a shortcut to “Side button settings” at the bottom. However, the text and icons are now bolder.
Not a massive overhaul, but Samsung tweaked the power menu in One UI 7 to go with the massive UI refresh. The battery icon, meanwhile, sees a substantial update. It’s now a horizontal pill with the battery percentage inside it — the notification shade also sports a pill-based design. While this is the default icon, we couldn’t check whether it’s the only option or Samsung will let you customize it.
If you noticed, the Wi-Fi icon next to the battery indicator in the image above has “Wi-Fi 5” labeled. On One UI 6.1.1 or earlier, only Wi-Fi 6 and above are labeled in the status bar. This is another meaningful update from Samsung. One UI 7 also refreshes the default dialer app, or perhaps the Phone app. As you can see below, Samsung has added icons for Keypad, Recents, and Contacts.
All of these changes are part of Samsung’s renewed One UI design philosophy. It aims to create a simple, impactful, and emotive Galaxy experience. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait longer for One UI 7. The company plans to open beta programs for developers later this year and release the stable build next year with the Galaxy S25 series. Stay tuned for more updates.
