Major leak reveals almost everything about the Galaxy S24 FE
Samsung’s next FE phone will be bigger than its predecessor. The Galaxy S24 FE features a 6.7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,900 nits of peak brightness. It should be a flagship-grade Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with HDR10+ certification. Samsung is also upgrading it to Gorilla Glass Victus+ screen protection on the front and back. The frame is still made of aluminum — don’t expect titanium on the FE lineup just yet.
Interestingly, the chipset powering the Galaxy S24 FE isn’t the regular Exynos 2400 found in the Galaxy S24 and S24+. It’s the Exynos 2400e with a slightly lower-clocked CPU. Geekbench listings previously revealed that the chipset has its Cortex-X4 prime core running at 3.11GHz instead of 3.21GHz. The other nice CPU cores (it’s a deca-core processor) are unchanged. This throttling may improve its power efficiency and thermals.
The Galaxy S24 FE may feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 flagship in the US and a few other markets. It’s unclear if Samsung will throttle the Snapdragon chip too. Or maybe it will use the standard version instead of the overclocked “For Galaxy” version used in the Galaxy S24 flagships. The FE phone may be available in 8GB and 12GB RAM versions. Storage options may include 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB, though not confirmed yet.
Cameras will remain unchanged from the Galaxy S23 FE. The big new leak from Android Headlines confirms a 50MP main shooter, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The selfie camera is a 10MP unit. The phone should capture 8K videos with its rear camera and 4K videos with the front camera. You can expect OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) on the 50MP main rear camera.
Bigger battery, new colors, and more Galaxy AI features
The Galaxy S24 FE’s bigger size allowed Samsung to offer a bigger battery. The phone packs a 4,565mAh battery, likely with 25W charging (charger not included in the box). The leaked press materials say the device can deliver continuous video playback for 29 hours and music playback for 78 hours on a full charge. The new chipset should enhance its power efficiency, allowing for substantially longer battery life than its predecessor.
The new FE phone looks similar to the Galaxy S24 or S24+, thanks to slim bezels and flat frames with rounded corners. Samsung plans to release it in five colors: black/graphite, grey/silver, blue, green, and yellow. It may add more color options later. The Galaxy S24 FE will run Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1 out of the box (One UI 7.0 is still long away), bringing more AI features. It should receive at least four major Android OS updates.
We expect Samsung to offer an under-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth v5.3, GPS, and NFC. The Galaxy S24 FE should also boast wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. A launch date is currently missing but the rumor mill should reveal that soon. The device may be priced at $599, though Samsung could increase the price to $649. We will let you know when we have more information.
