Earlier this month at the SDC, we got a preview of Samsung’s new One UI 7 design language. The company has revamped the user interface to offer a simpler, more impactful, and emotionally engaging experience. As part of this redesign, several app icons received a fresh look. A new leak now reveals an updated color tone for the Gallery icon, hinting at ongoing visual refinements.
Samsung has already updated the One UI 7 Gallery icon
At SDC, Samsung showcased a multi-colored icon for the Gallery app. The new look received mixed reactions from Galaxy users. Some liked its vibrant design, while others found it too childish. A tipster recently claimed that the company has already revamped most of the app icons as it continues to test the One UI 7 update internally before a public beta release, expected in November.
The tipster said the new icons look better and “more reasonable,” adding that the Gallery icon now has a red-dominated color scheme. A recent Reddit post seemingly provides an early look at the updated icon. As you can see below, Samsung’s new Gallery icon has a red tone with an Instagram-like color scheme. If you ask us, we don’t think that’s the final design. There’s room for improvement somewhere.
That said, there’s no universal rule for good design. As we saw with the previous One UI 7 Gallery icon, what looks perfect to one person might seem lacking to another. It remains to be seen what Samsung’s developers will ultimately decide. The company is likely paying attention to user feedback on social media as it develops One UI 7 with a focus on user experience. It must carefully consider the changes.
Samsung is expected to begin One UI 7.0 beta testing in November. At this point, it may have completed the development of all new features and changes and is probably testing the update internally for a public beta rollout. The Galaxy S24 series should get a beta program first, followed by other models. The stable One UI 7 update will arrive in early 2025 following the Galaxy S25 launch.
