If you use Android Auto in your car, you might want to avoid installing the latest update. Several users have reported connection issues with the new version of the Android Auto app. The bug affects wireless connectivity, and there’s no fix in sight yet.
Wireless Android Auto is broken for many after the last update
Over the past couple of weeks, numerous Android Auto users have reported a connection issue. Most of the reports on Google’s support forums say wireless Android Auto suddenly stopped working. The affected users are using either v13.4 or v13.5 of the app. These updates rolled out between late January and early February.
While a substantial number of users have experienced the issue, it doesn’t affect all users universally. It appears specific devices or vehicle models may be more susceptible. We checked with Android Auto v13.4 on a Galaxy S24 Ultra and a Galaxy S25 Ultra and faced no issues with the wireless connection.
That said, the issue is widespread enough to indicate a potential problem. As mentioned above, it can also be a compatibility issue with certain vehicles. We tested both devices with the same car. It’s pretty annoying for affected users as Android Auto fails to connect wirelessly. Thankfully, it still functions properly when using a USB cable. Restarting the phone helped some users resolve the issue temporarily, but there’s no permanent fix yet.
As of this writing, Google hasn’t acknowledged this wireless Android Auto issue. However, that doesn’t mean the company hasn’t yet seen the reports. We hope its engineers are already working on a fix. Subsequent updates should resolve the problem. Google is already testing v13.8 in the beta channel, while v13.6 and v13.7 should soon hit the stable channel. Until a fix is rolled out, we recommend not updating Android Auto to v13.4 or newer.
