iPhone 17 Air May Be Thinner, But Galaxy S25 Slim Could Outshine in Camera

The Galaxy S25 series is just around the corner. At Galaxy Unpacked on January 22, Samsung will lift the veil on the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. Unfortunately, the Galaxy S25 Slim won’t debut alongside its siblings. It will be released later, facing stiff competition from the rumored iPhone 17 Air. Recent rumors suggest that the iPhone 17 Air could be slimmer than the Galaxy S25 Slim. However, there’s one area where it might outshine.

iPhone 17 Air could be slimmer than the Galaxy S25 Slim

Galaxy S25 Slim will measure 6.6mm in thickness, per a report, while the iPhone 17 Air could be even slimmer, coming in at just 6.25mm. Apple is reportedly making significant changes to its iPhone lineup starting in 2025, so there won’t be an iPhone 17 Plus. Instead, we’ll see the introduction of the iPhone 17 Air.

While the Galaxy S25 Slim may not hold up in the slimness department against Apple’s iPhone 17 Air, it’s important to note that both phones will be remarkably thin. For context, the rumored thickness of the Galaxy S25 Slim means it will be about 23% slimmer than the S24 Ultra. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air will be around 24% thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Although Samsung might not claim victory in terms of sleekness with the Galaxy S25 Slim, could there be another way it might actually knock the iPhone 17 Air out of the ring?

Ice Universe iPhone 17 Air Galaxy S25 Slim Camera

Reliable leaker Ice Universe recently shared on Weibo that while the iPhone 17 Air may win the who’s thinner battle, there’s one area where the Galaxy S25 Slim could have the upper hand.

According to Ice Universe, the Galaxy S25 Slim could feature a triple-camera setup on the rear, while the iPhone 17 Air might settle for just a single lens. Of course, it’s still early to assume everything will play out exactly as predicted. But given Ice Universe’s track record for accuracy, this scenario seems more likely than not.
