Google Pixel 10 Series to Use Samsung Camera Sensors Across All Models

by | Apr 4, 2025 | News

Google is preparing to launch its next-generation Pixel smartphones, which could include the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. While these phones are still a few months away, a fresh leak has revealed the complete camera specifications of the lineup. What caught our eye is that the entire Pixel 10 series will use Samsung-made ISOCELL camera sensors alongside Sony cameras.

The Pixel 10 lineup will use Samsung and Sony cameras

The Pixel 10 will feature a triple camera setup using parts mainly from Samsung. The main camera will have a 50MP ISOCELL GN8 sensor with a size of 1/1.95 inches. For the telephoto lens, it will use an 11MP ISOCELL 3J1 sensor (1/1.3 inches). The selfie camera unit will deature the same sensor as the telephoto, with support for autofocus. The phoneโ€™s ultrawide camera will use Sonyโ€™s IMX712 sensor with a 13MP resolution and a smaller size of 1/3.1 inches.

As for the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL, both models have the same camera setup, with only one camera unit sporting a Samsung ISOCELL sensor. The main camera uses a 50MP ISOCELL GNV sensor with a size of 1/1.31 inches. The ultrawide and telephoto cameras both use a 48MP Sony IMX858 sensor, which measures 1/2.55 inches. Even the selfie camera is the same, featuring a 48MP Sony IMX858 sensor with autofocus.

All cameras on the next Google foldable will be from Samsung

Now talking about the upcoming Pixel foldable device, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, unlike its predecessor, Google is no longer using sensors from Sony on its foldable device. All camera units of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will use Samsung cameras. For the main camera, Google will implement the 50MP ICOSELL GN8 with a size of 1/1.95 inches.

Both the ultrawide and telephoto cameras use the ISOCELL 3J1 sensor with a 12MP resolution and a size of 1/3.2 inches. For selfies, both the inner and outer cameras use the Samsungโ€™s 11MP ISOCELL 3K1 sensor with a 1/3.94-inch optical format.

Google has changed its chip strategy โ€” with the next-generation Tensor chip now being made by TSMC instead of Samsung โ€” but it still entrusts Samsung for Pixel cameras. The Pixel 10 lineup arrives later this year.
