Galaxy loyalists know that Samsung shipped the AR Emoji function a while ago. Now, the feature is finally receiving a due revamp. With One UI 7.0 beta, Samsung has now rebranded it to Galaxy Avatar, which is a very subtle name aligning with Galaxy branding.
Samsung’s AR Emoji feature is now called Galaxy Avatar in One UI 7.0
Hopping on the early One UI 7.0 beta for the Galaxy S24 series has its perks, especially with the introduction of the revamped Galaxy Avatar feature. Samsung has taken a page from its old playbook, merging three separate apps — AR Emoji Studio, AR Emoji Camera, and AR Emoji Stickers — into one unified experience.
This update also brings new outfits to try on for your avatars. You can find this feature by going to Settings > Advanced Features, where you can create avatars to use for things like profile pictures, alarm backgrounds, watch faces, and more.
One of the biggest changes is that custom avatars are now the default option, making pre-designed ones less important. This reorganizes the feature and puts more focus on personalizing your own avatar. Although Samsung had already announced the rebranding of AR Emoji to Galaxy Avatar with One UI 7.0, it’s still interesting to see it in action. There are definitely some cool new features inside, making it clear that Samsung is improving how users can customize their phones.
The wait for One UI 7.0 stable version continues…
