Google’s Gemini had a rocky start, but it’s slowly gaining ground on competitors like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and others. It’s now expanding its capabilities beyond the reminders tied to Google Calendar. For Galaxy users, who often rely on Samsung’s ecosystem, this limitation has been a bit of a sticking point.
Unlike Bixby, Gemini doesn’t integrate directly with Samsung’s native apps. This has left some users scratching their heads, as both tech giants offer their own versions of apps like Reminders. The good news, however, is that Gemini could soon add support for Samsung Reminder.
Gemini will soon support Samsung Reminder
According to the good folks at Android Authority, an APK teardown of the Google app v15.49.40 beta suggests that Gemini might soon gain support for Samsung Reminder. Strings of the beta app’s code point to an upcoming feature that would allow Gemini to integrate with Samsung’s native apps.
The report highlights one string that reads, “Do more with your Samsung device. Gemini can now access popular services and apps like Samsung Reminders, so you can connect quicker to the features you love.” When this feature lands in a stable release, it could mean that Galaxy users will finally be able to set and manage reminders directly within Samsung Reminders, all through Gemini.
It might just be the very beginning
While the current focus seems solely on Samsung Reminders, the code, according to the report, hints at a broader collaboration ahead Whether you call it collaboration or a more seamless Samsung and Google integration, that’s up to you. Phrases like “popular services and apps” suggest that Gemini may soon extend support to more Samsung apps in the future.
These small integrations or updates play a big role in enhancing the overall user experience (UX). I’m definitely excited to give it a spin once the features go live. In the meantime, Samsung is also rolling out One UI 7.0. While not everyone can try it just yet, you can catch all the latest updates in our One UI 7.0 section.
