You probably use Gemini on your Galaxy to summarize web pages or articles, extract extra info from images or PDFs, and even analyze YouTube videos just by sharing a link. However, as of now, thereโs no way to upload a video and have Gemini analyze it the same way it does with images. But that might not be the case for long. An APK teardown hints that Gemini could soon gain the ability to analyze uploaded videos.
Gemini will soon have the ability to analyze uploaded videos
Android Authorityโs AssembleDebug reports that Google is working on support for video uploads in Gemini. While digging through the latest Google app beta v16.9.39.sa.arm64, he discovered code references hinting at this upcoming feature. Interestingly, the same app version also contains references to a potentially free Gemini Advanced subscription for the Galaxy S25 Edge.
According to the code strings reviewed by AssembleDebug, users may soon be able to add videos to chats, view their duration, and play them. Right now, Gemini on Android doesnโt support video uploads, but testing shows they can be attached, which suggests something is in the works.

He has also shared two screenshots showing that a feature like this could be coming. None of the upcoming functions, like analyzing videos or anything more advanced, are working yet, but the fact that thereโs now a video upload button shows whatโs on the horizon. If and when this feature launches, itโll be interesting to see how it operates.
I wonder what kind of duration or file size cap Google will impose. There could be some exceptions for Gemini subscribers. This feature could be super useful, like uploading a recorded class session and presenting your doubt. Or maybe asking it to check something in a CCTV footage, like whether a red car appeared between time X and Y. Maybe Iโm hoping for too much, but Iโd love to see all of this become reality.
