Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition has a Special Edition

by | Oct 21, 2024 | Galaxy Z, News

A few hours ago, Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. The device is special because it is the company’s thinnest, lightest, and biggest Fold yet. It appears the Korean firm has an even more special foldable in the pipeline. The phone’s Chinese version will reportedly feature more exquisite materials.

The Chinese Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is more special

Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition only in South Korea and China. The device is more of a technological showcase from the company, telling the industry that it can make super slim foldables with powerful specs. The new model is substantially slimmer than the Galaxy Z Fold 6. It also offers bigger displays and a 200MP primary rear camera. There are a few more handy upgrades to talk about.

According to tipster Ice Universe, the Chinese version of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will be more special. For one, it’ll be called the Samsung W25 in the country — Samsung has always launched its foldables under the W series in China. But more than the name, it’s about the material used for its back panel. The device allegedly uses a ceramic back cover. The Korean version has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back.

If memory serves right, the last Samsung phone to feature a ceramic back was the limited edition Galaxy S10+. Launched in early 2019, the Korean firm offered a limited number of units with this exquisite material for the back cover — the standard Galaxy S10+ had glass on the back. It appears the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will get ceramic back as standard nationwide. It should be more resilient, offering stronger protection.

Alongside a material upgrade, the Chinese version allegedly gets a dual-tone finish. It will be a combination of black and gold, the same source claims. In Korea, Samsung offers the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition in a single Black Shadow color. The new foldable costs about $300 more than the Fold 6. It remains to be seen if the company releases it in any other market later. We will let you know when we have more information.
