Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (or Galaxy Fold 6 SE) is finally getting its first firmware update. Itโs special in many ways, this foldable; however, the update is still fairly generic, which includes the November 2024 security patch. We know this because we got our hands on it early, having it shipped all the way from South Korea to our US office. In case you havenโt seen it yet be sure to check out our hands-on video to see how it fares against the Galaxy Fold 6.
Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is getting its first firmware update
Just a heads up, Samsung took the wraps off Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 this July. In October, the company released the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition exclusively in South Korea. Itโs also available in China as Galaxy Z Fold W25.
Today, itโs receiving its first firmware update nearly a month after debuting. The new firmware update version is F958NKSU2AXK4. To clarify again, itโs not One UI 7.0 beta yet, though itโs plausible that this could be among the very first devices to receive the beta update. The update changelog doesnโt throw away many details, and weโve yet to see whatโs in there. So weโll update this article if we spot any changes.
Should you buy the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, why and why not?
If youโre interested in the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition as a collectible, consider it, especially since itโs not available in the U.S. Itโs a great choice and looks even better in person.
However, keep in mind the price โ not just the $3,000 to import it โ but also a handful of potential issues you might face. For example, if you drop the phone, it wonโt be covered by warranty. You may also run into carrier problems, which weโve explained in a separate post.
