The October security patch is now available for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, Samsung’s latest foldables. The update is rolling out widely in the US, Europe, and a few other regions. The company has already updated several other Galaxy phones to this month’s security patch, aka SMR (Security Maintenance Release). It patches 42 vulnerabilities across the Galaxy family.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 grab the October security update

Samsung started the October SMR rollout relatively slowly but picked up the pace in no time. Over the past few days, it has released the latest security patch for the Galaxy S24 flagships, S24 FE, Fold 5, Flip 5, and more devices. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 joined the party today. The new foldables are picking up the October patch globally, including the US.

The US versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 are receiving the latest SMR with the firmware build numbers F956USQS1AXIB (carrier-locked) and F956U1UES1AXIB (unlocked). The update is also rolling out in global markets, including Europe. Samsung is pushing the same changelog everywhere — the foldable phones are getting nothing more than the latest security fixes.

The Korean firm recently revealed that its October SMR patches 42 vulnerabilities across all Android-powered Galaxy devices. The vast majority of those are Android OS patches from Google. Samsung patched a dozen of Galaxy flaws, including five critical ones. As usual, you should install this update as soon as possible to ensure the safety of your device and personal data.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 shipped with One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14. It’s the latest iteration of Samsung’s custom Android skin. The company is now readying One UI 7 with Android 15 at its core. The new update will enter the beta stage in December, followed by a stable release in early 2025. The Galaxy S25 series will run One UI 7 out of the box.
