Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip series is quite a popular foldable option available at a comparatively lower price. However, Samsung has even bigger plans for this year’s foldable lineup. The company intends to release a Fan Edition (FE) for the Z Flip series, which will be called the Z Flip FE. Now, rumor has it that the Z Flip FE won’t feature the 3nm Exynos 2500 processor.
Code backs up rumors that Exynos 2500 won’t power the Galaxy Z Flip FE
Rumors have been rife that Samsung has been struggling with the production of the 3nm Exynos 2500 processor. Last year, reports suggested that the Exynos 2500 processor’s yield rate was as low as 20%. The situation hasn’t improved since then. At least, it seems that way. That’s why Samsung might be sticking with the 4nm Exynos 2400e processor for the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip FE.
According to Android Authority, while digging through code from “reliable sources,” the publication accessed files stating that B7R will include the S5e9945 processor. The “B7R” refers to the Galaxy Z Flip FE, while “S5e9945” is the part number for the Exynos 2400/2400e processor, according to the publication.
The publication also quotes recent leaks suggesting that Samsung might equip the Galaxy Z Flip FE with the Exynos 2400e, using IPOP (Integrated Package on Package) packaging. This approach is more cost-effective but comes with trade-offs, such as increased thickness and higher temperatures. However, a conflicting report claims that Samsung is considering using the newer Exynos 2500 for the Flip FE instead of the Galaxy Z Flip 7. To make this shift possible, the company may delay the Flip FE’s launch by a few months.
There are indeed conflicting reports regarding the launch. Another mostly reliable source, Max Jambor, claims that the Galaxy Z Flip FE is still on track to launch alongside its siblings. Jambor has a solid track record—he previously tipped that the Galaxy S25 Edge would release in April, and now we’re hearing the same rumors again.
Whatever happens, we’ll keep you in the loop. For now, it seems almost certain that the Galaxy Z Flip FE will be powered by the Exynos 2400e processor.
