Samsung is gearing up to launch its first affordable foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip FE, later this year. While multiple leaks have already surfaced, details about its chipset and launch timeline remain uncertain. A new leak now offers more clarity on the phone’s processor and camera setup.
Exynos 2400e likely to power the Galaxy Z Flip FE
According to GalaxyClub, the Galaxy Z Flip FE may feature Samsung’s Exynos 2400e processor. This is an underclocked variant of the Exynos 2400 found in the Galaxy S24. Samsung previously used this chip in the Galaxy S24 FE. It’s still a fairly capable processor, so it makes sense for the company to use it in its upcoming affordable foldable.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about Samsung potentially shipping the Galaxy Z Flip FE with the Exynos 2400e. However, there have also been rumors about the Fan Edition foldable featuring the Exynos 2500, Samsung’s first 3nm mobile processor. The company has been struggling with poor yields of this chip. It looks like Samsung has shelved Exynos 2500 for good.
Well, the report says that only the international version of the Galaxy Z Flip FE (SM-F761B) is confirmed to feature the Exynos 2400e. It’s unclear if Samsung will ship the US version (SM-F761U) with the same chipset. The device is likely to boast 8GB of RAM.
Familiar camera setup from the Flip 5
Additionally, the latest leak says the Galaxy Z Flip FE will inherit its camera system from the Flip 5 launched in August 2023. This means a dual-camera setup on the back, featuring a 12MP primary sensor and a 12MP ultrawide lens, alongside a 10MP front-facing camera for selfies.
As we exclusively revealed last week, the Galaxy Z Flip FE sports a Flip 6-like cover screen. Samsung seems to have repurposed spare parts from older devices to build this phone. Nothing wrong with it, as long as the device lives up to user expectations. It should go official alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 in July, though there are rumors of a delayed release. We shall find out in the coming months.
