Samsung is rolling out the December security update to a bunch of 5G-enabled tablets in the US. The Galaxy Tab S10+ 5G, Galaxy Tab S9+ 5G, and Galaxy Tab S9 FE 5G are all receiving the latest security patch. Other models in the lineup, including the Wi-Fi versions, should soon join the fun. The update has been already rolled out to most of the eligible smartphones.
The Galaxy Tab S10+ 5G and more receive Samsung’s December update in the US
Over the past few weeks, Samsung has rolled out the December security patch to dozens of budget, mid-range, and flagship smartphones worldwide. A few tablets also received the update in some regions. The company recently started pushing this update to the Galaxy Tab S10+ 5G, Galaxy Tab S9+ 5G, and Galaxy Tab S9 FE 5G in the US.
The three 5G-ready tablets are receiving the December security update with the firmware build numbers X828USQU2AXK8, X818USQU5BXKC, and X518USQS8BXK6. The build versions could vary depending on your model variant and carrier. However, the content should remain the same for everyone.
Speaking of which, Samsung appears to be pushing nothing more than this month’s security fixes. There may be some stability and reliability improvements in tow, but don’t expect anything major — certainly no new features. The December SMR (Security Maintenance Release) patches over 40 vulnerabilities, including six critical Android OS flaws addressed by Google.
If you are using any of these tablets in the US, watch out for an update in the coming days. You can always check for updates manually from the Settings app. All three models are eligible for Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update, which rolls out starting late January. The company is currently testing the big update, with plans to introduce the official version with the Galaxy S25 series.
