Samsung’s latest Galaxy Tab S10 FE series are freshly baked and hot in the market. The Galaxy Tab S10 FE and Tab S10 FE+ start at $499 and $649 respectively for the Wi-Fi variants. You can throw in an extra $100 for 5G variants. Both models pack the same processor, same camera specs, and have a whole lot in common. So far, so good. In all fairness, they seem like great value. But there’s one detail that makes things a little confusing.
The Software updates part for the Galaxy Tab S10 FE remains a bit unclear
Samsung didn’t mention the software update policy for Galaxy Tab S10 FE series in the press release. That’s odd, especially now, when long-term support is such a big part of the buying decision. The tablets ship with One UI 7.0, which is based on Android 15, but how many updates will they get after that? That part is left unsaid.
Given Samsung’s recent push for extended software support—seven years for devices like the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Tab S10+, and Tab S10 Ultra—it’s only natural to assume the same for the FE tablets. SamMobile reported, citing a source, that Galaxy Tab S10 FE series will also receive seven years of software updates. That’s a promising sign. But it still leaves some questions. Does that mean seven years of major Android OS upgrades? Or just a mix of four Android versions followed by a few years of security patches?
We don’t know yet. But we’d assume the former, meaning the Galaxy Tab S10 FE series should receive seven years of major Android updates. Hence, the Galaxy Tab S10 FE and Tab S10 FE+ should receive major software updates likely till 2032. Say, the Android 22 or One UI 14.
We’ve reached out to Samsung for confirmation, and we’ll update this article after an official clarification. For now, reservations are open in the US, meaning you can get a $50 credit toward your purchase.
