A recent rumor suggested that Samsung might include two 200MP sensors in the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra. If true, this would mark a substantial overhaul. Ideally, this would mean the Galaxy S26 Ultra could feature a triple-camera setup instead of the current quad-camera system, while upgrading the existing 50MP and 10MP telephoto sensors with a single 200MP telephoto sensor. However, a reliable source is now refuting those claims.
Galaxy S26 Ultra wonโt feature a 200MP telephoto sensor alongside a 200MP wide sensor
Tipster PandaFlashPro claims that Galaxy S26 Ultra wonโt equip dual 200MP sensors. They attribute this information to โmultiple sourcesโ who have seemingly confirmed that no such setup is in development. The exact reason behind Samsungโs decision remains unclear, and PandaFlashPro has not provided any specific explanations. However, another report cites the leaker suggesting that the limitation could be due to the SoCโs inability to handle two 200MP sensors.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra may feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 (or Snapdragon 8 Elite 2) under the hood. The benchmarks for which also leaked recently. This yet-to-be-released processor reportedly lacks the capability to support two 200MP sensors in a single device, which could explain Samsungโs decision. As a result, we might see a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide sensor, and a 50MP telephoto sensor. Another 50MP telephoto sensor with 8x zoom has also been rumored. But if the Galaxy S26 Ultra sticks to a triple-camera setup, this sensor may be omitted.
To be fair, the earlier leak suggesting that the Galaxy S26 Ultra would ditch the quad-camera setup in favor of an upgraded 200MP telephoto sensor specifically mentioned a โprototype.โ In general, companies test multiple configurations before finalizing the best-performing one. So, while there is still some hope, the available information remains scarce. Given that the Galaxy S26 Ultra is still far from launch, we recommend taking these with a grain of salt.
