Galaxy S26 Ultra’s Snapdragon Chip Could Be 13% Faster Than Regular Version

It’s no secret that Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for Galaxy chip. Ahead of launch, a fresh leak reveals the clock speeds of the CPU cores, suggesting it could be 13% faster than the regular version. If true, the Korean firm will deliver a significant performance improvement in its next-generation premium flagship.

Leaks suggest a massive CPU boost coming for Galaxy S26 Ultra

Qualcomm is gearing up to launch its flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip next month. Built on TSMC’s 3nm node, the processor could arrive as the company’s most advanced mobile AP to date. According to a tipster, Abhishek Yadav, the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will feature two cores clocked at 4.19 GHz and six cores at 3.63 GHz. The Galaxy-exclusive variant will also retain the same base speed of 3.63 GHz, but frequencies for the two performance cores could be increased to 4.74 GHz.

This means the prime cores of Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for Galaxy are 550 MHz faster (13%) than the regular ones. The difference between the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite and its Galaxy-specific version is 150 MHz, which is a 3.5% boost in peak clock speed. However, the regular 8 Elite chip’s main cores run at 4.32 GHz, so it’s quite surprising that Qualcomm has lowered the base speed of its new chip to 4.19 GHz. The tipster probably got the information from a recent Geekbench listing for the Red Magic 11 Pro.

Nonetheless, with the whopping 4.74 GHz frequency on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, users should notice improvements in day-to-day tasks such as browsing and app launches. In the GPU segment, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for Galaxy will likely feature the same Adreno 840 GPU at the same speed, so graphics performance should remain consistent between the two variants.

Alongside the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Samsung is reportedly developing the Galaxy S26 Pro and S26 Edge. While the company may equip both devices with Qualcomm’s flagship chip, there’s chatter that some regions could instead get an in-house Exynos 2600. We will learn more about this in the coming months.
