Samsung’s latest Galaxy S25 series has begun shipping to those who pre-ordered in most regions. As a result, independent reviews are starting to surface, including one that compares the Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and S24 Ultra in a battery drain test. The key takeaway is that Samsung has significantly optimized the Galaxy S25 Ultra, despite both the S25 Ultra and S24 Ultra featuring the same 5,000mAh battery.
Here’s how Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S24 Ultra fare against each other in battery drain test
YouTuber Android Addicts recently dropped a video where he pits the Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and S24 Ultra against each other in a battery drain test. He gives a heads-up that, for the first leg of the test, the phones have Wi-Fi turned off. Plus, the phones are running mobile data until the Google Maps test is wrapped up. Once that’s out of the way, Wi-Fi is switched back on. The phones are set to QHD+ resolution (except for the 1080p S25), with Bluetooth off, auto-brightness cranked up and set to full brightness from the get-go. The S24 Ultra, being a year old, has probably seen some battery wear and tear.
The phones go through a series of tests. And much to everyone’s surprise, the Galaxy S25+ comes out on top, boasting the best battery life of the bunch. The Galaxy S25 Ultra takes second place, with the Galaxy S25 trailing in third. Meanwhile, the one-year-old Galaxy S24 Ultra ends up in the fourth spot. The Galaxy S25 and S25+ pack 4,000mAh and 4,900mAh batteries, respectively. As for the Galaxy S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra, both rock a 5,000mAh battery.
